Afrikanistik-Aegyptologie-Online (AAeO)

is an appraised journal. It represents African studies in the so called Westermann'schen Breite (Westermann's width/latitude) and gains additional historical depth through Egyptian studies.

The key aspects of the journal are linguistics, communication, literature as well as cultural and historical studies focusing on Africa and Egypt.

Furthermore the journal provides a platform on which temporary/provisional research results may be published as reports. In addition to interviews and a bulletin board they offer the reader to take part in contemporary up-to-date research discussions. For every single publication – even the older ones – users may submit a commentary.

is an open access electronic journal that allows direct access to current scientific studies even in areas where printed publications are scarce/rare by or unavailable.

The journal's special concern is the usage of the interactive and multimedia-based presentation potentials that modern electronic publications support: an essential advantage compared to print journals. Contributions may be complemented with large-scaled images as well as with audio and video files.

To offer/facilitate quick/swift publication/release there are no periodic editions. The articles are published as soon as they are cleared by the reviewer.

is a multilingual journal. German, English and French are the main languages for publication. Where possible the articles/contributions are preceded by abstracts in German, English and French plus/as well as an African language or Arabic.

is promoted/sponsored by the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Research of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia within the framework of DiPP (Digital Peer Publishing) and is hosted and technically supervised by the Academic Library Center HBZ (Hochschulbibliothekszentrum NRW).
